The Director General of the Health Reference Laboratories of the Ministry of Health explained the contents of some media outlets about laboratory kits produced in the country.
Siamak Samiei said: "Domestically produced kits that are used in university laboratories of Quid 19 network and other authorized medical laboratories for diagnosis and screening of Quid 19, based on the results of laboratory evaluation and the report of a national reference laboratory at Pasteur Institute of Iran, the ability to detect variants." Omicrons are just as good as the Delta variant. Therefore, the negative results of molecular diagnostic tests and rapid diagnosis, especially when it is repeated for the second time in people who have clinical symptoms but their first test result is negative, can be the criterion for definitive diagnosis.
He added: "Of course, if the patient presents too early or too late in the course of the disease, the test result may be negative." This possibility exists for all microbial pathogens, and the treating physician pays attention to it in the process of clinical diagnosis and patient assignment.
The director general of the Ministry of Health's reference health laboratories also said that before the widespread outbreak of the omicron variant, that is, until the delta variant had a higher share of the disease, the majority of cases sampled for respiratory tests due to respiratory symptoms. Covid-19 were negative. So that in some cases even more than 90% of them were caused by other causes such as influenza, seasonal colds and other viruses.
Samiei added: "These people are negative in terms of coronary infection according to the communicative instructions for the diagnosis and treatment of Covid 19."
